After weeks of consternation between Sen. Thom Tillis and the Trump administration, Tillis voted to confirm Todd Blanche as the next attorney general. His main concern regarded the Trump administration’s $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization” fund. Tillis wanted an agreement from Blanche and the White House to stop the use of the fund, which is meant to provide restitution to people who felt they were wrongly targeted for prosecution for political reasons. Trump has said the fund was created for people charged or convicted in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol when his supporters stormed the building to stop the election certification of Trump’s 2020 opponent, President Joe Biden.
