On Wednesday, the Carolina Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup-winning team unveiled the Cup, now complete with their freshly engraved names. The Canes opted to include 53 ownership, management, coaching staff and players’ names on the trophy, just shy of the maximum allowed 55. And filling the first two lines of names are owner Tom Dundon’s wife, Veruschka Dundon, along with their five kids. In the Canes section of the Cup, several front-office members and team staff follow ownership names before the list of 24 players. Captain Jordan Staal was the first player carved on the Cup before the other players’ names appeared in alphabetical order. The family’s inclusion drew mixed reactions on social media, but the addition of family members who are deemed to be “involved with the team” isn’t new.
